About Me
Born and raised in LaSalle, Ontario; I now live in Windsor, Ontario with my 5 year old Cockapoo Gracie. After completing my undergrad, I spent several years working in Finance and traveling the world before coming back to school to complete my degree in Education.
After graduating highschool at Sandwich Secondary, I completed a 4 year honours degree in Visual Arts at the University of Windsor. After graduation I began working in finance. I then decided to take courses at the Odette School of Business. After working in finance for 7 years, I decided to pursue my degree in Education (2024). After my B.Ed, I intend to complete a Masters of Education part time at the University of Windsor.
My favourite part of life is the experience we gain from seeing the world. I enjoy travelling, and can’t wait to do more of it. My most exciting stories so far include Italy, Spain, and Thailand.
During my undergrad, I completed a 3 month exchange in Volterra, Tuscany in Italy. I went with 7 other students for a pilot program that the University of Windsor partnered with Detroit Mercy to run.
In 2019, I spent 6 weeks hiking across Northern Spain completing the Camino de Santiago. This is an 800 km treck through mountains and countrysides. I was hiking between 20-30 km per day – it was absolutely incredible!
Most recently, in 2021 I spent a month travelling through Thailand from the North of the country in Chiang Mai, to Phuket in the South. I saw amazing things, I met wonderful people, and I ate incredible food. It was in Thailand that I completed my scuba diving certification for up to 18 meters.
My Teaching Philosophy
I will foster creative thinking and self-driven education through a supportive environment, allowing students to be invested in their learning. I intend to create an environment and expectation for my students that will encourage them to look forward to coming to class. Establishing an interest in the classroom, whether in the classroom environment or the subject matter itself, will cultivate prolonged engagement, and ultimately student success as they will be less apprehensive to absorb relevant information. I will inspire my students, encourage them, and provide them the tools to be successful in life to support whatever their definition of success is. By genuinely caring about my students, I will create relationships that will last a life time. My students will trust me and rely on me, as I will teach them, not only the content required by curriculum, but I will teach them how to use critical thinking, metacognition, and how to see the bigger picture in life. Many teachers take for granted the position of power they are put in – being a consistent adult and resource in a student’s life can affect them and their way of thinking for the rest of their lives.
